The Spring Equinox Pause I Didn't Know I Needed

I was inspired reading the latest post by friend and colleague, Marlene, of Spacious Living. “The Spring Equinox is a moment of balance, when day and night are equal and the natural world pauses at a threshold between seasons.”

Ah, yes, I want that pause that nature takes instinctively, as I watch the snowdrops in my garden push their pretty little heads out of the cool, loamy soil. So bright against the backdrop of dormant earth, their bell-shaped blooms bid me to stop in my tracks, crouch down, and take a gander. And in that blessed pause, I half-chuckle: because I’ve been going a million miles an hour, sprinting into spring.

Can you blame me, after the winter we’ve had? Not snow drops – not snowflakes – but snowMENT – a brand-new term appeared in our urban vocabulary. Heavy, heavy, heavy. Not to mention all the heavy, horrible news shrouding our world.

So how, now, I ask myself – as the birds sing, the buds burst, the gibbons in the zoo yelp their tribal chorus over the treetops, and the humans come out in shorts – how the heck am I supposed to EASE in? To enjoy the space and grace of this transitions season?

I’ll tell you…

Join Marlene and me for Root to Rise, an online Spring Equinox Visioning Workshop, Wednesday March 25th at 630 pm Central, 730 pm Eastern.

Through mindful movement, meditation, breathwork and journaling, we will …

  • ground in the present,

  • envision the future,

  • and attend to the precious, creative transition.

Let’s stop running and root down to rise UP!

About Mar and Me

On March 7th, International Day of the Woman (and my birthday) we celebrated our 20-year friend-iversary. We met on a bustling, music-filled plaza in Joao Pessoa, Brazil, back in 2006. And we have been creative, spiritual pals ever since. This workshop represents a new facet of our relationship – collaborating to offer exciting life journey experiences to others. Yay!
